Anyone removed stock ballast tanks from an dd air nautique?

Hey,

I have a 99 pro air nauqitue with the stock 400 lbs ballast hard tanks. We typically fill another fat sac and put in the center ski locker and one in the back locker for a total of around900/1000 lbs and with people the wake is great.

However, it gets annoying having to manually fill and empty these two sacs each time out especially since some of us both slalom and wakeboard.

Has anyone removed these hard tanks and installed a bigger fat sac in the back. We were going to tie into the existing system, add a 600 lbs sac for the back, add another pump and plumb a 400 lbs sac in the center locker for 1000 lbs. That way we can push a button each time we want to add weight.

I think this would be pretty easy to do...however I can't figure out a way to take the stock ballast tanks out without removing the fuel tank as well. This would be a very big hassle I do believe.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

you do have to remove the fuel tank to extract the factory ballast tanks. you can do it with disconnecting the fuel supply, return lines, sending unit wires and leave the fill hose connected. there are two deck braces/tank mounts and two other tank mounts to remove. there is also a bilge hose and ballast vent hoses to contend with on removal. swing the port side forward and slide out the tanks after all connections are disconnected. it would probably take the better part of a day to remove these tanks if you have never done before. i dont quite understand your reasons but good luck! remember though, building a wake doesnt always mean alot of weight in the back. i would plumb a intake/exhaust pump on the belly sack to make life easier and maybe for the sack in the back. be careful on putting a sack on the early tanks...i have seen them split the seam from doing so.
