heater air barely warm and fire exting install

Took our new 236 out for the maiden voyage on wed.I have to say I could not be more thrilled with the wake even with a half a tank of petrol and stock ballast.I can not wait to get that pig sacked out, the wake will be intense to say the least.I was however much less impressed with the amount of hot air coming out of the heater vent.The amount of air flow seems o.k but the temp of the air was barely luke warm.I only have my old 2002 210 heater and my buddies moomba to compare to,but the temp of those was much warmer than the 236.We have the six liter with closed cooling system and the lake temp was around 50 degrees.anyone have any thoughts on this subject and how warm is everyone else's heater air.We do alot of cold weather riding so a good heater is a must.I also have to mount a fire extinguisher to comply with state law.Where did you all mount yours for easy access and to have it out of sight.

I have closed cooling as well and have found that the heater works much better (warmer) than my previous boats without closed cooling especially at slower speeds. Advantage being the constant engine temp with the cc.

Did you check the valves on the heater hoses coming off the engine block to make sure they are open all the way? My guess would be it, and I honestly can't remember if there was one each hose or just the feed hose, the valve(s) is partially closed. Once the engine comes up to temp the heater should rock.

My 230, which was also a ZR6, which has closed cooling, also had this issue. Mine got progressively better over the first few weeks of use. The only thing I could figure out was that maybe there was an airlock in the heater lines that gradually freed itself.

Thanks Guys I will check the valves on the motor if they are open then I will hope it clears up like Jeff's did.Now What about the fire extinguisher where does everyone have theirs installed?

I don't have closed cooling...but I had the same issue on my boat and the culprit was a kinked heater hose at the connection near the thermostat housing. I cut out the kink and rerouted the hose to it wouldn't pull at that point.

I don't have the same boat as you, so my fire-extinguisher advice probably isn't worth anything, but I currently have one mounted on the floor underneath the observer seat and one loose in a bin under the seat behind the driver. I haven't decided where to mount the second (currently loose) one, but I'm thinking under the driver console. It's nice to have at least one that can be seen by others in the boat. The one under the observer seat is the "reserve."

i have the Zr6 with closed cooling and haven't had any issues with mine, it goes full speed and pretty hot. it is a year old though.

i'd check all the hoses and make sure there isn't a kink somewhere.

that being said, this is a dumb question, but are you trying all 3 speeds of the heater? mine doesn't blow hardly at all on the lowest speed, but pushing the button a few times gets it going strong. sorry, if that is obvious.

Fire Extinguisher and new coversports cover

Def running the heater on full speed, on the lowest fan setting it might as well be off since you can't tell the diff anyways.Still need some good idea's for the fire extinguisher.Pic's would be great as well if it's not as hassle.I received my new cover from brent at coversports this afternoon.I will install tomm after our third outing in the boat and get some pics for everyone to see.

my fire extinguisher is mounted under the gull wing seat right to the bottom right if you are facing the front of the boat. mounted on the 8 inch high wall inside so it is tucked away.

Had the same problem with my 08 210 'no hot air at all' turned out that the hoses running to the heater box had shifted when the two halves of the boat were put together thereby clamping them shut just under the drivers seat. They were pinned pretty tight, my dealer at the time had folded so I had to sort it out on my own. Almost decided to run new ones but with a bit more perserverence, numerous fibre glass cuts and splinters later finally managed to get them out without too much damage to the hoses.

FYI - the heater speed only affects the fan/blower speed, it doesn't alter the flow rate of the hot water being sent through the heat exchanger. Engine speed will however increase the flowrate hence most heaters tied into open cooling systems put out more heat while motoring, especially for vdrives since the run from the block to the heater is much longer.

Out for another hour and half last night.The temp of the heater air seems a little warmer.I am hoping it is going to sort it self out.After using it more I am not that happy with the amount of air flow either.When I replaced the heater in our 02 210 san I replaced the small core single blower with a dual blower double size core with four outlets.I might look into doing this in the 236 as well .any one ever modify there heaters?also noticed another electrical issue,my nav light the white one on top of the tower does not work as well as the blower turning on with the interior lights.I am hoping the two issues are connected.

I am guessing the increasing lake temp has something to do with your heater working slightly better.
I would also hazard a guess that you have a week ground causing the lights to dim. I still have this problem in my 99. I keep meaning to fix it, and hopefully with this year.

Can't help you on your heater problem but I have a couple pics of my fire extinguisher install. I mounted mine on the seat lean back behind the drivers seat. The only thing is you end up losing one cup holder but that cup holder is hard to access anyway in my opinion. It is very accessible for the driver or passengers with it being mounted there.

sorry the confusion. i do understand that the speed doesn't affect the hot water flowing through the system and only changes the fan speed. i thought he might not be able to feel the heat because only a little air was coming out.
