I'm noticing a pretty wide gap in pricing on these, anywhere from ~$190 to $280. Are there different types? What is the difference with the "yellow" impeller?
You have to make sure you are comparing the same correct pump. 18220-1127 is the one you want. Also, make sure it includes the rocker switch. I believe they are sold with and without.
The yellow impellers were the 2nd generation. The black ones burned out fairly easy. That said, I have never replaced mine. I do have a pair of yellows in the boat just in case. There is also now a green impeller. Not sure what the difference is there.

I think the green one is a new replacement for the yellow one. I think it is made from a new material so lasts even longer. I also think i need a new ballast pump because the pump for the starboard ballast tank as stopped making the deep whining nose that the other pumps make when filling the tanks and that tank does not fill at all any more.

Dave, change your impeller. I have had to replaced two and both appeared to be in good shape. They don't break the fins off like your water pump impeller. I believe the hub on them starts spinning around.

Before the new impellers, I believe that many people extended the lives of their impellers by running the impeller in the opposite diretion for a second or two after filling or emptying the tanks (i.e., flip the switch for just a bit to reverse the direction of the fins after your fill or empty your tanks).
