So here's the deal.I live in Vermont and we have no in state dealer the closest ones are:Two in New York each about 2 1/2 hrs away. One in New Hampshire about 3-4 hrs away,And one in Canada also about 2 hrs away.Buying a boat especially a 230 in Canada in was way out of the Question since they charge right around or over $100,000 for one. There was only one other 230/236 at one of the dealers in New York I mentioned above. They wanted in the high $80's for the 09 230 he had and would only give me around $20 k for my 02 210.So that put that option off the table as well.Long story short:We sold our 210 on private sale and bought a new 08 236 team out of the midwest from a dealer out there. The dealer had this boat sitting on his floor plan for a couple years and could not move it so we got a good deal on it.I could only pick it up this winter so a water test was out of the question.Everything worked fine at the dealer when we did the walkthrough but know that we are using the boat the electrical system is on the fritz it started with the blower running every time we turned on the interior lights and know you are lucky to get the blower on.Or the white nav light on top of the tower or the docking lights. The ballast pumps sometimes come on now with the interior lights as well as the blower. Our air dam door has also rattled apart after only 6 or so hrs.So I contacted on of the dealers I spoke of above,I did talk with this dealer several times well boat shopping but he had nothing to offer me, no new or used boats on the wake side only ski boats.I only got the receptionist on Friday when I called the owner was out for the weekend,But she had no Idea how to go about the situation because they did not sell the boat.I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with warranty work needing to be done by a non sale dealer?

my understanding is the ones they sold are top priority, but I can't see why they wouldn't help you after that.

How stupid is that? First he doesn't have anything to sell you then he holds it against you because you found it somewhere else. Why couldn't he locate the boat in the Midwest and sell it to you. I live in IN I bought my boat in IL they got it from a CA dealer. At this point he only lost a sale now he is working on loosing a custermer for life.
If they are an authorized dealer they are obligated to fix it. If the owner wants to screw you around do you really want to have him touch it. Its his store he can run it anyway he wants. You can contact CC to find a dealer that wants your buisness.

CC dealers are obligated to provide warranty service as part of their dealership agreement. Just like you can take your Chevy vehicle that you purchased in City A to a dealership in City B for warranty work. There is no need to even tell a service department where you bought the boat. Call in, tell them you need to schedule some warranty work, and get it in. If they give you an issue, call CC's customer service department. Granted, they would prefer that you had bought the boat with them. But that's neither here nor there.Shane Hill

I would wait for the owner to get back in town and talk with him. A lot of these dealers are small and do prefer you purchase a boat from them but will still handle the service for you. Did you at one time have a CC dealer that was closer to you? If so are they still a boat dealer just not a CC dealer? The reason I ask is because my CC dealer closed and I don't feel comfortable taking my boat to the new CC dealer which is a far drive also. So I take my boat to a Malibu dealer that used to be a CC dealer for 20+ years. I know them very well and they told me a few years back that they can handle warrenty work on my CC still. I think they are doing it to show how loyal they are and to hopefully get my next new boat purchase. I also feel a lot more comfortable having them do any work on my boat than the new Nautique dealer up my way that has stated on the phone to me "you probaly know more about these boats than we do since we have never really dealt with inboard type boats." That statement didn't make me feel comfortable taking my boat to them to work on.Current: 08 Super Air 210 Team

We purchased ours in 2006 from a dealer where we vacation which is 6hrs away. Needless to say this is not the best option for service when there is a dealer only 45min from our home. We had nothing against our local dealer when purchasing we were just vacationing and decided that it was time to upgrade. In taking our nautique in for service I do not have enough positive words to say about our local dealer in the quality of service we recieve from them, even though we didn't purchase our boat from them. If a dealer doesn't want to work on a boat because it was not purchased from them I'm surprised they made it this long and wouldn't expect them to be in business much longer. Dealers are paid on warranty work regardless of who sold the boat.

Two options I might try if necessary are:
1. Call the dealer in the Midwest and tell them they sold you a lemon and you want your money back, which will hopefully get that dealer to request help from your local dealer.
2. Call CC headquarters and explain the situation - they should be able to set the dealer straight.
Electrical issues are tricky, I would want someone really experienced with nautiques to look at it. My recollection of the NY dealers are the one in the Adirondacks, which is relatively new, and might not have a great tech guy. Seager marine would be a good place to take your boat, granted it's further- I bought my 2001 NSS from them and had a good experience - it was a consignment sale and despite only making $500 from it they let me talk to their tech guys on the phone to walk me through various repair & maintenance tasks over the course of the first year.
Good luck,

I have been in touch with the dealer that sold it to me and they have been more than helpful, having the factory call me directly to try and solve my problem.I am hoping that the dealer I called on Friday will tell me to bring it right in.I have no reason to think they won't.I was just a little surprised they had not dealt with the same kind of situation before.
