    Heater (under)performance on 2008 236

    Hey!

I got a brand new 2008 236 (not a typo!) and I find the performance of the heater to leave something to be desired. It is not as efficient as my old 2002 SAN TE's heater or the one in my friend's Moomba, the air it pushes simply isn't as hot. Does anyone know a quick fix for that?

My boat only has 7 hours, I'm not sure but I think I might have heard or read somewhere that it takes some time for a heater to reach it's peak performance. Anyone can confirm or infirm that?

    Thanks

What is the engine temp? Is it not hot just at idle, or all the time?

I've never heard that it takes time (engine hours) to reach peak performance. It's the same as a car heater: hot water is pumped through a little radiator and a fan blows air over it...which is directed through outlet vents.

Mine heater was awful. I checked the lines and found one kinked--fixed that and all is good. Based on other posts I've read, I think a kinked / pinched hose is more common that you'd expect.

I also installed the y-fitting Heatercraft sells to increase heat output at idle. It seems to work well at idle, but I think it's at the expense of heat at higher RPM.
