Perfect pass issues

Some one please answer, probably a dumb question. I have a 2003 SAN with perfect pass on it. When I got the boat in 2006 it worked fine. Then one day it quit registering speed but it was on. All I did for the winter was take the cables off my batteries, and when I reconnected them today the PP will not even power up. Before I start taring into things, does this sound like the display on the dash has been going bad and finally bit the dust or should I start tracing wires. I don't use it much so I'm a little reluctant to spend a ton of money and time on it. Just curious what some of you guys have seen...... Thanks...

Perfect pass requires a good solid connection with a good ground. Make sure that the your battery connections are good and remove the dash board cover and look to make sure that the perfect pass wires are secure. I had the same issue with my 2000 nautique and was simply a matter of a loose ground wire off PP.

I started messing with my Perfect Pass again. I found the loose power cable. But I still can't get it to register any speed. I checked all the connections and all looked good. I checked and have 12volts at the module under the dash. The servo motor spins back and forth when you hit the igition switch. What is anyone's oppinon on what I might have going on. I don't have a manual for it so I have no way of reading anything about it and what the buttons do.... Thanks. MikeG.

The paddle wheels do wear out. if you trailer a lot you may want to consider taping over it so it doesn't spin while driving down the road. If you are getting no speed readout I would guess bad paddle wheel.

Yeah I do trailer it every weekend....I did notice before it quit registering, It would show speed then stop and start again, and stop so that makes sense. I will check into getting one. Thanks for the info.

I had the same issue and contacted PP. They told me to reset the system. For me reset is holding on/off & menu when you turn it on. It works fine now. I dont know why it did this, but it didnt cost me anything to repair so I am happy.

I second that! I phoned them up a couple days ago, spoke to the head honcho (Gerry), he e-mailed me info on how to attack my issue.
