My first trip out yesterday after having it winterized and I received the same message. Would love to hear what others thoughts are on this subject. Sorry I don't have anything valuable to add other than thanks for starting this thread.

    Thanks

    Eric

The knock sensor must have good electrical contact with the engine block. Because it plugs a water jacket hole, many people put a thread sealer on it, and the electrical contact is lost.

Remove the knock sensor, clean the threads on it, and the on the block, and reinstall it. Check to make sure the wire is hooked up to it while you are there.

Thanks Daniel C - will the error code go away when corrected or does a dealer have to clear it?

I am not sure if the error code will go away, or if it will have to be cleared.
One option would be to disconnect the battery, I am not as familiar with a the GM engines as I am with the Ford GT-40.

I held back until an expert posted. But since the answer isn't clear, I'm going to GUESS. There is a thread on here where we've talked about it before but I'm not going to search.

I was told in the thread the codes would not clear. But my experience with OBD is that when a faulty device is replaced, the code should clear automatically.

thanks guys. I am hoping they just didn't get the wire connected properly when they finished the winterization and that clears the code.

I just got a new one in and I am going to install it tomorrow. If you hold both the UP and DOWN arrow in at the same time on the tach, it will clear it. Mine just comes back on.

Installed a new Knock Sensor..............Warning message came back on the tach. Still runs fine and no limp mode??? Frustrating.....The only thing I don't like about buying a used boat. You never know what the previos owner may have altered or CUT.

In addition to what Daniel mentioned the knock sensor is supposed to be installed to a specific torque, want to say like 20 ft lbs? Should be on the wire or in your manual.
