Engine Oil Brand?

rotella 15/40 w/ fl1a filter. i don't understand why you'd use synthetic when the manual clearly states NOT to use it.

In the 08 PCM manual page 28 under synthetic oil it says its fine to use as long as you dont extend the change intervals and it meets the PCM oil requirements. I have been using synthetic oil in all my cars,trucks,boats and even lawn mowers since Mobile 1 came out in 1977. I have never had a engine failure. Not to say I would have with standard oil. I just think the synthetic lubricates better even if its not needed. I like overkill.

Engine Oil Requirements

Prevailing Ambient Temperature --- Recommended A.P.I

Above 50F ---------------------------- SAE 15w-40 "GF-4/SM"

Below 50F ---------------------------- SAE 5w-30 "GF-4/SM"

I agree. M1 for me along with the K&N filter. First change at 20 hours, then every 50. It says no 'supplemental additives', but it says synthetics are fine. There was a thread about this last year. I tried conventional oil and saw no difference in oil pressure (reported complaint with synthetic oil). So, I went back to M1.

I have a 2004 SANTE with the ZR6 engine. I was told that the oil dipsticks were not accurate on these. Is that true?
