    GT-40 Oil Weight

What kind and weight oil do you guys use in your GT-40's? On the info panel it says straight 40 weight oil, and that seems a little heavy.
There was a thread about this recently, but for the Excalibur engines.
I would have searched the forums but it disregards words 3 letters or shorter.
    Thanks.

I contacted Nautique and PCM about this when i bought my AIR. They said either straight 40 or 15w-40.

Like most people I run 15w-40 Rotella (Shell)

I run 20W50 VR-1 which has over 1,200 ppm zddp.

Castrol GTX 15w-40 diesel, it also has the zddp additive the GT40 needs. I find the multi weight works better in Northern climates where you can have colder temps- especially in the Spring or Fall.

I contacted the local dealer recently and switched to Rotella T 15w40. It is a deisel oil that has the zinc phospate required fo rthe GT 40. I made the change after reading posts about excessive tappet and cam lobe wear if your oil doesn't have the necessary level of zddp.
Hopefully there hasn't been any damage from running something else the previous 2 years

I just picked up Valvoline VR1 20w50. I was using Rotella 15w40, but I was worried about the summer protection. Typically multiweights break down over time, so you're really using a mid 30 weight eventually.

old thread but im curious here..ive had my 92 snob since 96. she has 600hrs on her, and i have always used castrol 40wt.Now this zddp stuff is for flat tappet engines?..
(im not into motors, so correct me here if im wrong).
Without me having to dig into it, i always thought the 92 351HO GT heads were equipped with rollers?

Eastwood has an zddp additive they sell for older cars....will this stuff work?

                  thnks!
