    Heater leak???

Drivers **** pit floor is getting wet. Appears to be coming from under dash. I'm pretty positive it's the heater without having opened it up yet. Looking for confirmation and is there anything when I get the chance to open it up and look, to check for/on??

By chance how much is a heater?

When mine has leaked, twice, the water travels along the built up area on the floor in front of the driver.
If your speedos are leaking, they drip right on the drivers lap, usually.

The heater box can be removed fairly easily by a few screws into the floor, and disconnect the flex hoses and the water lines supply and return. I had my core brazed at a weliding shop for $20 the first time, then replaced with a Ford Bronco (I think) from Napa. It is now leaking again. (1999 SN). So 3 cores in 10 years.

A quick fix is to disconnect the 2 hoses and get a coupling from an Auto store, like Autozone, and bypass the heater until you have it fixed for Fall skiing. I think it was a 3/4", but not sure anymore. I just keep it handy in case.

I had similar problem this spring, but the heater core could not be fixed. Replacement was $95. I used a coupler (like AB mentioned) as a temporary fix until the heater was replaced.

        1997 Nautique Heater leak

I have the same problem. I clamped 2 bolts onto the ends of the 2 hoses temporarily (no leaks so far). I was told because water without antifreeze is flowing through the core, it has a relatively short life. Also, brazing it was not a good idea as it probably won't last too long (thin material and difficult to braze). I looked up replacement cost and $339 was the best price I could find for mine, which is a HEATER CRAFT 200-H HEATER, eventhough the side panel says, ACU HEAT 200-H Series, but they look identical. (http://www.wmjmarine.com/99-4006.html).

Where did you find a $99 replacement?

I removed the core from the housing but the replacement comes with the following:
        Kit includes the following pieces:
        • 1-Heater unit with wire harness.
        • 2-Universal mounting brackets with screws
        • 3-14" Heavy-duty wire ties
        • 1-Switch plate and indicator assembly
        • 2-6' lengths of 14 gauge wire.
        • 2-6' lengths of 3" vent hose
        • 2-directional Euro vents

I really don't need all this.

        Thanks!

I had a leak too. Pulled out the core, found the leak then cemented it with epoxy glue. So far works great and didn't cost nothing.

            sgyeomans,

You do not need to replace the entire heater. I initially took mine to a local radiator shop. He said the core was trashed with several tiny holes and could not be fixed. He got the core and installed it for me at $95, which was slightly cheaper than if I had purchased it myself and done the work. SkiDim has the entire heater box (which is more than you need) for $110-130 depending on which model you need. Also may want to check with White Lake (PN discount?) or Google it.
