    RPM/Speed Question

I upgraded a couple of years ago from a 91 Sport to a 2007 211, and saw my gas usage double! I've realized that my RPM's are running ~3000 at 21-22 mph. Does the RPM seem a litttle high for this speed? I'm running full ballast tanks, with no additional ballast, full gas, cooler, and ~3 adults. Prop appears to be a Acme 645, 13.25 X 16. Engine is the 5.8, 330 hp. Plenty of torque. I'm thinking the prop may be a bit small. Any ideas?

Along with your gas usage, your horsepower probably also doubled. More power = more fuel.

you can run the #381 prop which has a larger pitch but it will be doggy out of the hole w/ballast full. the 211 w/ballasts full is probably 2,000 pounds heavier than your sport so I would expect to burn more fuel. gotta pay to play...

What engine was in the 91? What kind of consumption are you seeing now (GPH)? I'm just curious, if I ever decide to upgrade. My 94 Sport has the 310hp ProBoss and I use around 4 GPH with between 800-1200lbs (people and ballast).

I had the 91 for 17 years! What a sweet boat! It had the 351 Cleveland, Holley 4V, @240hp. Yea, much less horsepower, but we were slaloming then, wakeboarding now, so I thought I'd be conserving fuel at the slower speed. The increased weight makes a big difference. I really don't know my gph usage, but I could run all day on 12-15 gallons. I was really curious about rpm's on other boats, as I haven't riden in other wakeboard boats. I was thinking if I were able to lower rpm with a torque loss, it would be a savings. Just curious what rpm everybody was running at 22mph.
            Thanks for the feedback!
