    vapor lock?

I have a 95 SN GT40 which was the year before the fuel cell was put on the engine. I have never had a problem with the boat in 15 years. However, the past three times out I have not been able to start the boat when the engine is warm. It will always start cold and run fine but when I turn it off and don't run it for more than 15 minutes and then try to start again... it just cranks but does not fire up.

Is this vapor lock or something else?

    Thanks.

      Either
Bad idea. Not only could this be a fire/explotion hazard you easily could destroy the engine. I can't think of a good reason to ever use starting fluid on a boat engine.

This sounds like the onset of my problems. Runs great and then won't start.

When you are in a quiet spot and boat is working, turn the ignition on and listen for the fuel pumps priming. This is what you need to listen for the next time you have the problem. They prime every time, full or not, so if you don't hear it when it won't start, chances are that your relay is going bad.

Don't ask me why it is intermittent, but it is. You would think that electrical is either good or bad.
