    Perko Switch

Just upgraded my stereo. It has a Perko switch, but I am not sure whether is has an Alt Field disconnect. When running my stereo while docked, is it safe to switch from 'All' to '1'. Similarily if this dies and I switch to '2' to start boat and then once running switch it to 'All', will it mess anything up? Please Perko educate me!

if it's hooked up properly you should be able to run it on 1 or 2 when engine off to reserve the other battery for cranking. after cranked switch to all.

Thanks, that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure you could do that without the Alt Field Disconnect.

Here's another question: Is there a risk of component damage like the alternator or electronics if I put a trickle charge on one of the batteries with the switch in "All" position? Or should I just avoid doing that and pull the batteries?

The alt field disconnect is more for if you switch it OFF.
