That year PCM 5.8 IS a gt40.

PCM made tons of non HO (GT40) marine 351's prior to the gt40 heads being used on marine apps. Someone could interpret your post wrong and think all 5.8's are GT40's.

Thanks for catching me on that, I was referring to his year model...I agree someone could interpret my posting incorrectly.

So to clarify: The 5.8 H.O. offered in a year 2001 Nautique was the GT-40.

5.8 in H.O. trim is a GT40. Goes back to at least 99 I think.

I have a 1998 with a true GT-40 in it... I think it was 97 they started.

I may be mistaken but, I believe the GT40 EFI started in 95 and ran through early 02. I have seen a few 95 ski nautiques for sale and on other forums with the GT40 EFI engine. Ford stopped producing the GT40 EFI in 01 "I think" and CC used the remaining PCM stock until they ran out in early 02. I just picked up an 02 with the GT40 EFI and she is quite the nimble and fast package!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong about my information!

Yes, GT 40 was available in a CC in 95.

Horkin's point was that the gentlemen asked if 5.8 equals GT 40. In his particular year, 2001, and Model, SAN, that was true. The engines offered were the 5.8 Ford GT 40, the 320 HP Chevy Apex, and the big Chevy Python motor.

However, over the years, the 5.8 was also offered as a carb'd motor and in a High Output Carbed Configuration. The 5.8, a 351 Ford, and was offered in CC boats since at least the late 70s.

Thus, Horkin just trying to make the point that not all 5.8s are GT 40s.

Can someone tell me what engine I have? I've heard it all. I have a 2000 Air Nautique. It says on the top pcm 5.0 HO.

CarrieMarley. I think it's the same as what I have in my 02.

It's a GM 305.

Pretty sure the Apex is a 5.7. The 5.0 was the 275 HP TBI engine.
