95 gt-40 hard to start, wont start

I took the time tonight after reading many post to find out what was going on with my boat. My boat was acting like it had a fuel pump issue but I was not sure that was the prob. I took the time today to check all the possibilities I have read on the post.

To make my boat start I have to remove to fuel cap. I let it run for 30m with the fuel cap in place. I try to restart with the cap on and it only turns over. I take the cap of and blow into the tank and it starts right up.

What is the solution to my problem

    Thanks for your help,

    David

It sounds like the anti-syphon check ball is getting seated or stuck. This isn't that hard to cleanout with brake cleaner spray or electrical parts cleaner (something that dries completely). It sits on top of the gas tank and is the main feed to the fuel pumps. Mine had red tape on it from the factory and have been told that is how they mark them.

I think air gets into the tank through the overflows, etc., and unless those are plugged up by spider webs and stuff, hard to believe they are causing some sort of vapor lock. The fuel pump could be starting to go, and you are sort of "priming" it when you force fuel into it.

Some older nautiques also had a fuel filter in the back by the fuel tank under the piece of the deck under the back seat that you can lift up. Maybe look there first.
