    Ballast pumps and or switch

I have a 2006 226 I just bought which has the Jabsco ballast pumps controlled by the keyless control pad.

My starboard pump will fill but not drain (reverse operation of the pump). Seems to be the switch. I've check the breakers all are correct. Light on keyless control panel blinks in drain mode but switch does not come on.

I've switched the connections from the belly pump to the starboard and hit drain on belly swich and works so I know the pump is working correctly.

How do I test and / or fix the starboard drain switch?

These should be di-pole double-throw switches. It is possible that you have a bad connection on the reverse polarity connectors. This happened to me when installing mine on my 99. I had a bad crimp on my reverse polarity criss-cross, the result being that the switch would complete a circuit on fill (normal polarity) but would not complete a circuit on empty (reverse polarity). If you can get in there, I would check the wire connections on the suspect switch first.

Thanks, I will take a look at the swich, hard to reach on the keyless start pad.

Also, used the wire plug at the pumps from the belly to empty and fill and now will only run on fill but not filling, regardless, so I don't think it's the switch, would the pump be bad and only work in one direction?

Where are inline fuses for ballast pumps?

The relays under the dash are all good (took apart box and switched belly to starboard you can hear them click)

I've been reading forums that there ARE INLINE FUSES on the Ballast pumps. Called the dealer to ask and they didn't know for sure on the 2006 226 TE. I've been searching all over under the gunnels and can't find them. I've of course tried the circuit switches by the battery switch.

I checked voltage on Starboard pump, works on fill, no voltage on empty. Others have said when draining inline fuses may blow, BUT WHERE ARE THEY?

Any suggestions. Pump is good b/c works when I switch to Belly connection at pumps.

          Check run dry module

There were no inline fuses on the 2006 226TE I checked the entire wiring harness... HOWEVER...

Thanks to another post, I learned about the Run dry control module. I opend the access on the back (1 black, 1 red), I then turned the empty switch on and moved each adjustment slowly, I put it back to original setting if nothing happened, finally by adjusting one, the pump began working. It seems over time you have to adjust these, thus the reason the made them accessible.

Hopes this helps others in the future! Happy Surfing!

Ah, glad you got this figured out. I assume you mean the run-dry module on the pumps. I have Johnsons not Jabscos, and the Johnsons do not have this patented feature.
