rehash -- best cleaner for 2003 SANTE seats

I'm too lazy to search the forum. What do you guys use and what does Nautique recommend? Starting to get a little mildew. Need something to get that cleaned up and then protect them. So what say you guys?

    Well... at least your honest.

    1. To clean mildew, Starbrite Mildew cleaner. Be sure to rinse it off thoroughly. This is strong stuff.
    2. To clean vinyl, the 303 Vinyl cleaner works pretty well. Others have had good luck with Vinyl Sauce, Malco, and the Mequires. I have the Mequires but prefer the 303 Vinyl cleaner. I have also heard some good things about Exquisite, which you can find on ebay.

Here is a thread on it at wakeboatworld.com.

EFX or something like that is less effective than water. I believe that it was made by GT Industries (the mfg. of your vinyl). I think it has been replaced with Zcare. I'm not sure if Zcare is any good or not.

    3. To protect, 303 Aerospace.

I used a sample of Z-Care the other week on my 03 SAN. Unfortunately it has some bad mold/mildew and the Z-Care didn't put a dent in it. The local Nautique dealer on our lake uses MoldAway so I picked up a bottle. It is pretty harsh stuff and the directions say to rinse well and apply a protectant. Giving the boat a thorough cleaning is on the project list while on vacation next week.

There is also a powder version of MoldAway from Yacht Brite and I may have to try that later. It is a concentrated powder that you mix with water and it makes 4 gallons. My boat cover is 7 years old and it needs to be cleaned - it is full of mold and mildew spores, which is why I'm having issues with the boat. Planning to take it to a laundromat next week for a good wash, then spraying with 303 fabric treatment.

Agreed...EFX and now Z-Care is less effective than tap water or kid spit. Plus its like $15 a bottle. +1 on the Starbrite and 303...no..no..no Magic erasers I still have shiny spots on my flat white interior doors in my house from those things...their abrasive...

for mold - white lake suggested this one (they use in their detail shop).

I have some now and have not tried it on the boat skins but have tried it on some boating stuff here at the house and it worked pretty good.

i'd have to give a huge thumbs up to starbright mildew remover. apply, wait for mildew to disappear, rinse with hose, 303 it.

I really like Z-care and out here in the Pacific Northwest, I have shared it with several of my boating friends. You spray it on and then use a brush to tackle the tough spots. One neighbor had his boat "shrink wrapped" all winter and the dealer didn't dry out the cover before they put it inside. When he opened up the boat in the spring it was all green. Z-care worked great. I then use a 303 over the top to protect from the sun. I usually restock my supply at the Boat show, where I can pick it up for close to $5 a bottle.
