07 SAN hydrogate issues?

I just purchased an 07 SAN and have tried the hydrogate and it doesn't seem to do anything. With the boat out of the water it moves it from against the boat to slightly out about 5" from boat.... Is it suppose to angle out more? even with ballast full and people in the boat, I can wakeboard behind boat and see that the hydrogate doesn't even appear to be touching the water as it comes out from under the boat... Is mine not working correctly or does it really not do anything?

The part you're talking about isn't the part that makes the difference. Look below that piece and you'll see a piece of metal that moves vertically to open and close the tunnel on the bottom of the hull. That's what creates the changes in the wake. It only moves a small amount. The piece you're talking about is necessary only to allow the cable to move the vertical piece.
