2002 Sante .. HELP !!! Throttle pin broken

    HI Guys,

I have a 2002 SANTE. My friend was using the boat and it seems to me he broke something in the throttle. It has to do when you need to lift the little saucer under the throttle knob in order to put it in gear. It looks like it has been tampered with in the past. I have looked on sites and its 500 bucks minimum for a new throttle, but it seems to me that i do not need this at all, but am not sure. Something to do with the little pin inside. Can anyone tell me how to remove the top round ball (off the throttle).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks guys,
    210 SANTE

To remove the round ball simply turn it counter clockwise. Keep turning. It will simply unscrew off the throttle

Just looked at it for you. Pretty simple design.
All it is, is a spring that attaches to a key. when you pull up on the release under the ball it pulls on the spring and pulls the key out of the groove. When you put the throttle in the forward or reverse position it pretty much stays open. When you move the throttle back in to the neutral position the spring pulls the key back into the groove.

I would bet you could remove the spring and take it to an autoparts store and find a replacement spring, if that is the issue.

        Thanks for the feedback Jward

My bro just tried to unscrew the knob and said it would go about 1/4 inch then wouldnt turn anymore. The throttle has been messed with before and he could see some epoxy in there. Are you absolutley sure it simply unscrews.

I attached an image of my throttle... let me know if you think we should really force it to unscrew it. COuld have been slightly glued or siliconed for some reason.

        Thanks for the help
