    2002 Sante Electronic PROBLEM !!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi All,

I was out on the lake today with my brother and nephew and there is something majorly wrong with the electronics and the boat wouldnt start and we had to get towed in.

Ill explain the situation as whats been happening. A couple weekends ago i went out in the boat and turned it off. When I went to restart it just went "Beep". I shut it off on the master and renetered the code and pressed start and it clicked again. I then pressed start again and it registered and started. When I went out today she started perfect. I pulled my nephew and then shut the engine off. Went to restart and "click" whole system would shut down. When it was on and now i press blower or any other button it worked, but then wouldnt work. Its either the system all works or it shorts when i press any button. At times when I restarted the main power with the master code electronics all worked, but as soon as when i press start the whole stystem shuts right down. Its really as though its shorting. I have lots of power. here is another hint . when I press start the second time to activate the guages it would work 50% of the time and when it did the engine light is on (dont know if this is normal prior to starting) and the system beeps twice in a row. Also the engine would click as if it wants to start.

In general i think its a short, but not sure how to check the fuse box and where the right places are to check. The fuse box under the steering looks different to what I am used to so I dont know how to test it or check it.

ANy help or ideas and suggestions would be great. Especially if someone has been through this as well.

    Thanks Guys !!!!!!!!!!!

    Neutral Switch

This has happened to me before. My throttle was just barely out of neutral. Wiggle it a bit and try again. Otherwise, check connections on your neutral switch.

Can you check something for me?

Hi. Me again. I'm just putting my alternator back on my 2002 SANTE and it's been a week since I took it off. Connections look obvious, but I wanted to confirm. I'm assuming both red wires (one with a red boot, one with a round spade connector) both go onto the same BAT terminal on the back of the alternator. If you could have a peek at your to confirm, that would be great.

        hi tim,

I just checked and yes it is a red wire with a red boot going into my alternator. What do you think the problem is?

I think its one of the following,

        1)Key Pad?
2)solenoid or starter (but dont know why it would short out other circuits)
        3)fuse or bad connection somewhere??

        Let me know

        Thanks tim

My 03 sante would cut off mid ride. after shutting down and pressing that red button on the left of the engine( took 20 mins to find it). it would crank. but that problem is fixed now as it has not happened in 4 weeks.

          weird

whic hred button are you talking about. I found one that has 60 written on it as if its like a fise but seems to be all in tact. I am really wondering after reading all kinds of posts if this is a relay issue or perhaps even a solenoid thing.

The question that rises is that can a faulty solenoid or starter relay cause the main keypad to shut off when not working properly and force me to re enter the master code? COuld this also be the main toggle switch. I read up on a couple of furums about this but i dont think it is the toggle as my keypads still allow me to punch in the code and activate the system.

let me know what you all think ...

It is hard to diagnose the problems miles away, with your description, but the first thing I would check the the battery terminals, and make sore they are clean.

The connections on the switch that allows the bilge pump only, or the entire electrical system to operate sometimes get loose, check those also.

                  ,

                  thanks guys

I will check all of the connections. The battery seems to be perfect though. Is it quite common that the main toggle switch goes on the fritz?

The red button with the 60 on it is the engine fuse (or at least that is how my mechanic described it to me in lay mans terms). I have a 2002 w a pcm 330 Excalibur and it has done that same thing a few times. My though is that there is a mildly corroded wire somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it. But pushing that red button starts her right back up. Not knowing what the exact problem is sort of sucks, but knowing how to get the boat restarted does take the sting out a bit

                        Hi ERS,

thanks for the reply. It seems to me that the red button is already in. I tried pushing it and it didnt seem to want to go in. Does it pop out when its broken or shorted? DO I have to push in really hard? Let me know what you think.

Just to confirm I have uploaded a pic of the breaker to make sure as well as the alternator for a post up above
