1997 super sport noise at prop/shaft

I've been working on the super sport a bit lately. I got a new fuel filter and the engine is back to running great. While we were working on it we noticed when spinning the prop, while on trailer, that there is a pretty loud squeak. Is that normal? just cause it's out of the water? how does that shaft get lubricated? Thanks

Gets lubricated by water. That's why you have a drip or two per minute that leaks through the packing and into the bildge. They can squeak a bit if unlubricated. However, if it is severe, you may have an alignment issue. The prop shaft needs to be aligned to a pretty small tolerance with the strut. BKH

wake- Fun - mhunt is new to the site!!!! "!"

Mhunt - how wake-fun meant to say it is " Mhunt" - water lubes the shaft. It is recommended that you don't spin the prop while it is sitting on the trailer."

        Bored on a conf call.
