    2003 SN 196 Keypad/Boat Not Starting

When I hold the "start" button my engine doesn't even turn over or click. I used jumper cables to see if it was the battery but still no turnover.

My safety lanyard is in place, "All On" switch appears fine, and all the buttons on the keypad still appear to be working fine. I can put my code in and press "start" once and the lower right light on the keypad comes on fine, I can press "start" again and get the lower left red light to come on, at that point the faria gauges and pp come alive just fine, the blower button turns the blower on fine, but if I press and hold the "start" button down again nothing happens - no engine turnover whatsoever.

Any ideas?? Could it be the "All On" switch - could it be a fuse or something in the breaker box? I really don't want to buy a new keypad!

You need to play around with the shifter....click it in/out of gear/neutral.

The likely culprit is the neutral safety switch.

I did move the gear shift forward and backward and even moved it forward and backward with the button in....it still didn't work....any other ideas??....it's bizarre to me since the "Start" button on the keypad appears to have its functionality by allowing me to still power up the keypad, pp, and gauges. The engine just won't turn over and it isn't the battery.

Perhaps the switch is bad or not seeing any of the movement. Perhaps carefully jump and/or test the switch to be sure. Your symptoms are NSS.

May be a bad starter solenoid or there may be a start relay. Put a voltmeter on the solenoid (+) and see if you have voltage there with the start button in or jump voltage to the solenoid to see if the engine cranks. There are a lot of test you can do here to eliminate several issues.
