Looking for insight into the following issue:
Just got back from a week at Lake Powell, within the first day, I started noticing a faint knocking/clicking sound when putting the boat into gear and trolling slowly. I'm assuming this sound is always there but I only hear it when the engine is quiet enough for me to hear it.
It is a rhythmic sound, and I at first assumed it was the engine (PCM Excalibur 330), but when I lifted the engine cover, I really didn't hear anything out of the ordinary with the engine, I had a driver put the boat into gear and troll slowly, but I couldn't really hear the sound in the engine compartment even then. It's actually a sound best heard from the driver's seat for some reason, even though from the driver's seat it's definitely a back of the boat/bottom of the boat sound.
I checked my transmission fluid, looked fine, checked V-drive fluid (Walter V-drive) and it looked fine as well, although at the low end of the two lines on the dipstick. We used the boat all week and it never got worse. I bought the boat with 80 hours last fall, I've put another 80 hours on it. I've changed the oil and the impeller and that's it.
One other question:
Sometimes, when I shut off the boat, my Oil Pressure light will beep and flash at me. I've tried to determine if it's after significant use or not and there's really no pattern. I've driven it all day in 100 degree heat without problem and had it beep at me at 7 am after 30 minutes of driving. I always go back and check the oil and it's fine, right where it's supposed to be. I've checked it a number of times, both hot and after sitting and it's right where it's supposed to be on the dipstick. Any ideas what could be causing this light and warning signal to flash and beep at me? It's never done it while I'm actually driving the boat and I've never seen a dramatic drop in oil pressure on the gauge, everything appears to be fine.
