Transom cup fell off taking in water

So my boat was way to low in the water this morning went and checked it out had about 4 inches of water in middle flipped the bilge on and got all the water out No clue how high it got in the motor area. But when I went to trailer it I could not get the engine to rev up it would go into gear a go about 2 mph but no faster put it into neutral and same results just wont rev up. Any ideas?

The leak came from my transom cup coming off some how anyone had this happen?

i lost one this past weekend too, ordered a couple from white lake monday ... should've just been the exposed screw holes, hard to imagine it filled up the bilge to the motor ?

My 502 has rattled off several sets of them. MWCC even gave me a couple sets at the time. I finally gave up and filled the screw holes with sealant. You would be surprised how much water will come in a couple submerged 1/8" holes that are under pressure from being under water.

I have had a transom cup fall off during wake-surfing. I ended up filling in the holes with marine tex, and then re-drilling the pilot holes and screws in. This time I made sure that I placed a bit of marine tex on the inside of the transom so the screws will not even come close to full thickness. I have had the engine fuse, the red button with the 60 on it for the PCM excalibur engine, blow when water has entered the bilge. But I don't know why it would only cruise at 2 mph.

Sounds like the ECU has maybe defaulted into limp mode. Did any of the engine electronics get wet/submerged? Might try disconnecting battery for 15min or so, then reconnect and see if she resets...

I have limped mine a few times from taking water in the vents surfing. Leveling the boat and letting the bilge pump do it's thing has always un-limped it. I attribute it to water getting up to the knock sensor.

FWIW, I no longer bother with the transom cups...

Wakeslayer, doesnt the fumes get to you without the transom cups? I ran without them for a day and the fumes came right up the area in swimstep It was horrible, but then again I usually dont turn the engine off while switching surfers

Well took it to pacific Natiques they couldn't find the problem yet they already have put in six hours and have not figured it out. As far as the cups they told me I'm definetly not the first one he said a lot of guys just run with out them and fill the holes. Break Out Another Thousand
