Throttle mush be pushed far down to get acceleration...

Was teaching my daughter to wakeboard tonight.

All of sudden the throttle bgan to act really weird, had to push it very far down to get acceleration. Went into gear at the normal sport in both forward and reverse, but no acceleration until the throttle was probably 80% down.

I believe that this is a perfect pass problem. I have a 97 Super Sport with Wakeboard Pro Version 6.5N

I did not install the system, previous owner did. I am not very mechanically inclined.

The perfect pass manual leads me to think I need to preform a servo motor test.

Does this sound accurate?

If so, (here is where I show my lake of knowledge) where do I find the servo motor?

Any other input would be greatly appreciated!!

I had a similar issue. You may be giving it too much throttle out of the hole which unwinds the cable at the perfect pass a little at a time. It normally doesn’t do it all at once and the problem gets worse during the set. Next time it does this, try turning the ignition off and on about three times. Every time you reboot the perfect pass, it will tighten that cable by about a half turn. Three reboots should get the cable tight again.

You can also tighten the cable manually by turning the servo. The servo is a black knob located on top of the engine. You will need to remove the plastic engine cover to see it.

PP told me to install a trottle stop or just give it less throttle.

6.5N should have the automatic servo wind feature. My 1995 ski nautique had an old PP verison and it required manual tightening from time to time, became part of my routine pre-flight check out. Whenever you turned the key off before the cable tightened you would be left with slack in the cable for the next pull.

The reason my perfect pass was acting up, knob on the servo motor had fallen off. I put it back on and tightened the allen screw. As soon as I turned the ignition I could see the throttle wire tighten back up and was good to go today. I didn't even need to take the motor cover off, the servo motor was on the stern sie of the engine.
