    94 196

    I have a CB 1994 196 with the 5.8 Pro Boss motor. I have noticed that it has started running rich enough for smoke to be visible under acceleration. Is this common? Should I rebuild the carb? The boat runs great except for the smoke.

    Smoke or Steam

    Are you sure ir's smoke CC's sometimes put out steam as the hot engine cooling water hits the cool water in the exhaust. What temp are you running?

      What color is the smoke?

      White = steam; not smoke
      Blue = motor oil (not good)
      Black = excess fuel (not as bad as blue)
      Green = too many adult beverages

        Smoke

        It smokes pretty much all of the time. The engine runs cool at 150-160. The smoke is white, but the motor is running a little rich as well.

          I am experiencing the same thing with my 94 Sport with the Pro Boss carb'd motor. We ran it alot this weekend and most of the day it was great, but mid to late afternoon it "smoked" more and had more of a "rich" smell from the exhaust. Are there any concerns with this?

          Unfortunately, my temp gauge is not working so I cannot tell you the temps. The air was 70-80 degrees, water probably in the 65-70 range.

          Thanks!
