Glove Box Shock -- Install Tips?

Rec'd new shock for glove box under warr. and unsure about installation. Looks like it snaps in place with a spring housing. Is this correct? I don't want to ruin the lid removing the old one...any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

All the gas shocks, including the glove-box one I'm pretty sure install the same way. There should be a silver, circular clip on either end of the shock. Pry the clip off each end (a screwdriver works pretty well) and the ends should be easily removeable. Reverse the process to install the new shock.

It is pretty much a ball and socket joint with a metal clip/band that secures around it. Use a flat head screwdrive to slide the metal band out and it should pop right off
