I've currently got 3/4 inch lines with check valves on the vents. Should it be one inch?

I have 3/4 inch vent lines which work great. The only reason I am going to add check valves is so the sacs "shrivel" up when they are empty. I always have about 50-60# of water that the pump cant suction out b/c of air flow from the vent

            Just adding in:
I fill/drain from the top through 1" hose. 3/4" hose for vents with a check valve. I reused my stock brass check valves on the rear.
