'96 sport nautique, w/GT-40 EFI. We were cruising the lake yesterday evening on the way home and bumped up the throttle to around 45 briefly. The engine did a slight cutback/hesitation twice briefly, but no idiot light and oil pressure gauge (and all others appeared normal). Cut the throttle back and it ran fine to the dock. Started to take her out again about 15 minutes after turning the engine off and .....nothing. Won't crank or turn over. Red WARNING light somes on in center of dash and the oil pressure gauge is on "0". Checked oil level, looked fine. Made sure the kill switch was plugged in, ok there. Turn the key and it just clicks and engine does not turn over, just sounds like a clicking solenoid type of sound. Red warning light still on, oil pressure gauge still shows "0". The engine has cranked up effortlessly each we have started it. Could this be a battery, ground wire issue? Lots of threads have stated that bad oil pressure switches/sensors are common problems. Appreciate any and all replies/help.

UPDATE!! Duh, finally found the battery box! It was under the bow cushion! The culprit was a loose and corroded negative cable. Hand tightened it and hit the starter and she fired right up. The feeling was priceless and yet so INEXPENSIVE!! In case you were wondering, you're dealing with a newbie here. Oh yeah, did I mention the lake is slick as glass this morning??!

inexpensive fixes are great
I recently bought a 2001 SAN and was having battery issues, I went through the boat and disconnected each battery connection, (Battery, Starter, Alternator) wire brushed each one and re-tightened back up, that was all it needed. also, make sure you cannot turn the alternater belt by hand, if you can, it's not tight enough, tightening it up gave me an axtra Volt on my battery meter

Thanks Drobshaw. After cleaning the terminals and cable ends thoroughly and tightening them down, I sprayed on some anti-corrosive terminal protection (ADC?). Fired up each time like a charm. Just spent about 2 hours on the lake and all is great in life again. My 6 yr old son got up on the knee board for the first time ever and enjoyed 3 very long ride sessions. My wife slalomed 1/2way across the lake on very slick water. Supposed thundershowers coming later this pm. The boat has now been washed down, dried off and tucked away in storage til next weekend. Be safe out there.
