    K&N for the EX343?

OK, my new 2010 210 has an intake whistle that is driving my better half nuts. I guess her hearing is better than mine, but I do hear it. The dealer acknowledged it at delivery and said sometimes readjusting the flame arrestor or engine cover fixes it. I've had no sucess in tweaking it.

I was thinking maybe I could order a marine K&N flame arrestor which would actually have some filtration capacity. Anybody done this? Looks like K&N's site has some possible applications, just need to figure out the throttle body diameter and my height limit.

I think the problem you will find with the K&N is that the spark arrestors are all round with one mounting hole in the middle, while PCM uses an oblong spark arrestor with three mounting studs. With a little fabrication I'm sure you could make one fit but it won't be an off-the-shelf application. I don't know if you noticed but K&N has specific filters for Indmar, Mercruiser and Volvo marine engines but not for PCM.

I forgot about the clamp on arrestors, you could get one of those to fit but it may be difficult to mount the engine cover using the studs that are there. If all else fails turn the stereo up.

Yeah Mike C, kinda was thinking the same thing with the fitment issues and maybe the stereo is the answer. I do not want to make a compromised install.

Actually you need to contact PCM and tell them you need the plate that prevents the whistle problem that goes under the throttle body. It only takes about 15 minutes to do.
