Only 1 speed on 3 speed heater.

I have a 2005 sv-211 ZR6 TE that is fitted with a heater and three speed fan. Normally, on powering up the keyless ignition and pressing the heater button, the LED in the switch would light up and the heater blower would come on at its 'low' setting. Subsequent presses would cycle the heater through 'medium', 'high' and 'off'.

However, now the first press lights up the LED and switches on the heater blower as normal (although I am unsure as to whether it is low, medium or high speed) but subsequent presses switch off both the LED and the blower. A faint 'click' can be heard each time the button is pressed but the heater will only operate at the one speed in the four stage cycle.

Has anyone any suggestions as to what may be wrong?

There should be separate fuses for each fan setting. It is possible that they have blown. I have also heard that as the fan motor ages (causes more friction) that this is what can cause the fuses to blow.

The same thing happened to mine, but only on the high speed setting. There is a wire for each speed setting, and my high speed wire was somehow disconnected. Check the harness connector at between the dash and heater itself, to make sure it's connected tightly. My high speed was hanging out loose.

        Thanks for your input.

I only noticed the failed heater at the end of the day so have not had the opportunity to investigate the cause, apart from checking the trip switch panel located under the dashboard. None of the trips had gone but I did not notice whether there are multiple trips for the heater. Would there be three trip switches be located on the trip switch panel or are there three separate fuses located elsewhere, with a single trip switch on the panel for the heater system overall?

The wiring may be difficult to check without removing parts of the dashboard and interior trim. The heater is located under the seat behind the helm - I can see it by removing the two nearby cupholders but otherwise there doesn't seem to be any direct access. Ease of maintenance does not seem to have been high on the builder's list of priorities...!!!

Problem solved - it was one of the trip switches! There are two trips on the trip switch panel but I only noticed one initially - I must have had a 'man look'.

          Thanks for your help.
