GT 40 lazy start

their have been some posts that have been right up my alley as of late... diesel oil in gt-40 (just about to change my oil) and "wet plugs" but running good. I have been using "the secret" and all good thing's have been coming my way.

however, no one has asked and had answered this question. (that i can find anyway)

almost every time i start my boat it really takes a wile to turn over. I can hear the fuel pressure build. go to turn it over and it almost doesn't do anything then turns over slow two or three times and then fires and purrs like a kitten with a nice woosh of water out the exhaust. it isn't continually trying to turn over it is just really slow (almost like a train starting off) but it fires every time and runs great.

it leaves me questioning if it will start every time i go to start it for a half second which is going to cause me grey hair with prolonged use.

battery has lots of charge runs accessories and is holding a charge.

this normal?

Sounds like it is time for a starter relay. Cheap, easy fix.

for the cost of JUST FOR MEN i can prevent the grey... I had checked connections and all seemed good... the lack of turn over never seemed sporadic like a loose would cause.

add it to the winter project list!

So i have bypassed the kill switch and replaced the starter solenoid. Due to spratic click no start and continual turnover of starter with no catch then fires. Wondering what or how symptoms would be different if the relays are the problem. I Will be wet testing this weekend finally.... after it starts it runs great. idle through full throttle. Just interested to know what might be the next thing to check. If start is still lazy. Battery is strong and i stripped back clean positive wire connection.

Looking for symptoms or suggestions on secondary things to check.....

I had similar lazy start issues. One day it became no start but after a few taps on the starter motor it turned and fired up. I had the starter rebuilt and it cured the problem.
