    Lesson learned

Mount your jabsco ballast puppies so leaks can't flood them. A single outing blew mine. Pics to come

I have 3 pumps mounted behind the rear bench seat. I had to mount one of them where the hose fittings were above the motor housing.

Unfortunately I did not realize that the hard ballast hose you get from wakemakers must be clamped down much harder than regular heater hose to keep from leaking. Didn't help that we were in brackish water either.

My guess is the water leaked through the vents in the impeller housing and just sat at the bottom of the motor for the entire week until we went out again.

I emailed jabsco to see if I could buy a replacement motor only. I will let you all know what they say

          Yeah, that sucks!
I can see how using that hard hose would do that. I used a softer hose on my build and it's been perfect for all these years. I would spray some throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner in there and clean it all out. It might work!?

I think the motor winding is fine, its the power distribution "cap" thats screwed. The salt water destroyed the rivets, springs and wiring. I am going to try to fix it, but it may be a lost cause

Did that happen all of ur pumps or just the one? That hose was such a bitch to get on I can imagine it leaking. Still ended up putting on two hose clamps for good measure

Just one pump. The hose I used was not difficult to get on with the exception of the ballast fitting where I had to heat it up

So I found out that you can only buy Jabsco parts from authorized distributors (not resellers), one of which is West Marine. They quoted me 250+ for the motor alone. Not surprising

The expense of the pumps and motors is enough to make me glad I succeeded with an aerator setup.

Contact Wakemakers.com. See if they can help you. If you are not happy with the Jabsco, consider switching to the Johnson.
