Warranty Replacement Parts

The starter quit working on our 2008 211 this summer. When we took it to the dealer the mechanic told us he replaced the broken part in the starter with one off of another starter he had at the shop because he didn't have a new one.

My question is what should actually be done under the warranty. Should it be replaced/fixed with new parts vs. what they have available or should the whole starter be replaced under warranty.

Will be taking it in to have winterized soon and looking for advice as to what to tell them.

I don't know what is supposed to be done, but it sounds like they fixed yours with some part off of another one and then probably billed Correct Craft for a whole new starter and now the service department got a whole new starter to sell to someone else
