    Engine missing/skipping

I have a 2007 SN206 with 120 Hrs on PCM 330 Engine. The boat skips badly at around 30-32 MPH runs fine at 34 MPH. I have changed spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filters, drained and refilled gas tank, added fuel treatments and it still has a miss. Also I had a leaking fuel pump but have fixed the leak. Anyone got any ideas what would be the cause of the skip and how to fix it?

Did you remove and check the distributor cap and rotor?

Have you had the cam retard checked? My boat did the same thing. Never missed out of the hole or at top end, just crusining speed. It should be set to 7 degrees. You will need Diacom to do this

What is a diacom? Is that an engine diagnostic tool. I took the boat to an auto mechanic to plug in his diagnostic tool, but the plug-in did not match the one on my engine (PCM plug).

Diacom is the test tool used by the dealer. It reads live engine data and allows them to make certain settings such as the cam retard.

Do you think only PCM mechanics will have a diacom or are they common items with mechanics? I don't have a Nautique dealer within about 200 miles.

Now a day's most any good inboard facility should have the capabilities to scan your motor. I know I have set my self up to do everthing from Volvo penta, Merc, PCM, Indmar and am looking at whats next!!!
Please stay away from the automotive oriented techs as for the most part they have not a clue about these marine systems. However their are some pretty sharp ones and a smart one can do diagnostics with a multi meter and a service manual!

Where are you located?? maybe some one here on this board can make a suggestion for a service tech closer to you..

I am in Mobile, AL. There is a Supra/Moomba dealer in town, (Georges Watersports) but I don't know anything about the quality of his mechanics. I assume they are Indmar certified but I don't know for sure. Next closest inboard ski boat dealership is New Orleans LA (about 2 Hrs), Montgomery AL (2.5 Hrs) and Dothan AL (3.5 Hrs).
