New boat, a couple of questions

Bought a 2005 SN 196 last week! Some questions:

FCC: Wondering if this WIX filter can be used instead of the PCM filter which sells for ~$35.
    http://www.fleetfilter.com/filter/wi...ers/33436.html
I can buy the WIX locally for cheap. The PCM filter is considerably more expensive and I would have to have it shipped to Canada which makes it even more expensive.

My 2nd question is in regards to changing the transmission fluid. On my 1990 SN I was able to use a transfer pump that had a about a 1/2 inch tube attached, it worked great. On my 2005 I don't see how my transfer pump will pull anything out of the transmission. The fluid registers correctly on the dipstick but I can't actually see the fluid. Do I need to get a transfer pump with a very thin extractor tube?

    Thanks in advance

For the second question, you need to build one of these:

search my posts for more about it and tranny fluid changes.

Thanks AirTool. Just made one with stuff I had in the garage!

I am curious about the WIX filter. I have used WIX in numerous applications over the years and they have never let me down. I don't know why this water/fuel separator would be any different.

        Chief,
The PCM filter needs to "clip" to the bottom flange of the high pressure pump Via a o-ring type grommet and also fit snug in side of the FCC. If the Wix does that then try it out and let us know how it works. Other wise I think I would stay with the PCM FCC filter for a little bit of up cost.
