1999 super sport steering Adjustment

hi guy i have a nautique super sport v-drive with the 5.8pcm motor now my steering wheel has at least 5/10cm play in the wheel how do i adjust the cable i looked under the front there is no adjustment there so headded down the back now there is a small screw on bit on a 25-30cm rod that conects to the arm that controlls the rudder i did try to screw it all the way in and all the way out with now affect, this bar that the cable runs through is held onto place with 4 bolt can be undone and slid back and forward, is this how i adjust the cable.
please help it drives me CRAZY

time for a new cable

there really is no way to adjust it - you can try to add more rudder torque if you have an adjustable rudder but all that does is bias the boat's path at high speed and keep it steadier through the slalom course. I have the same boat same year and just this year I had the same problem. I bought a new cable as well as the tilt wheel assembly (Helm base tilt assembly) because my steering not only was loose but the steering wheel had a lot of play in it up and down and side to side. It was easy to install and now it tracks like a new boat. Good luck
