    oil drain

Hi, I'm new to changing my 05 226 excalibur oil and can't find much detail about the drain hose. Any suggestions where it is and how to get it through the transom drain hole? Maybe this is obvious, but not to me. Thanks

i never new where mine was til last oil change and dealer left it chillin. easiest way is to get a pela 6000 for 50$ and do it through the dipstick tube. you can change trans and v oil if you have it as well.

Wasn't watching my typos... It's a 236. The manual says to locate the drain tube, remove plug and drain from transom. I can't get to the bottom of the engine, there are tubes all over the place and how are you supposed to run the tube from the transom drain? I guess I could use a pela, just concerns me that the dirtiest oil would stay in the bottom of the pan.

On my direct drive Excal the drain hose (about 3/4"dia) runs from the oil pan drain hole and is fished up the front of my motor adjacent to the Raw water pump (impeller) then across the manifold to which the end cap is clipped. The end of the hose is a brass fitting with a brass cap. This is how it was installed at the factory, also keep in mind your motor is rearward and rotated 180deg different then mine.

Ideally you want to warm the engine/oil prior to draining, I use my suk-up pump on the dipstick then on the drain hose through the hull, feel this removes as much of the old oil as possible.

remove the plastic shroud on the top of the engine, and you'll see it clasped with a shower curtain ring (if the dealer was changing the oil previously) as this is where the stow it from the factory. Like Chris said, it has a brass nut and is connected to the bottom of the oil pan.
