Ballast puppies - do you pull the impellers when you winterize?

Title says it all. For ballast puppy pumps, is it necessary to pull the impellers, or have people had good luck just leaving them in all year round?

I left mine in the whole winter, but I did have them already spinning the direction of fill. That way if they were a little stuck they wouldn't have to change direction too adding stress. That worked two winters on mine.

I attach a hose to my thru hull, and pull in a gallon of RV. Leave em in, same as the boat. Nothing is going to happen. These are my original impellers from my install in 2007.

I've left mine in for the last seven years. I haven't done anything special.
