With the ethanol in fuel issue, are you emptying the tank for winterizing??

I have been reading conflicting info on how to store the boat for winter. Some are recommending only leaving a small amount of fuel in the tank (treated with an ethanol stabilizer), others are saying fill it up?
Anyone with some solid data on this?

Have you visited www.pcmengines.com for their ethanol statement? I have always added Stabil to a full tank of fuel to prevent moisture from entering the tank.

I choose is to fill the tank, stabilized with the red Sta-Bil, at twice the normal amount. (4 oz Sta-Bil, per 5 gallons of gas)

I fill the tank, because the less air that is in the tank, the less exchange of air in and out of the tank as the temperature changes. Smaller air exchange, less water in the tank.

I have been running E-10 in my boat for many years now. No problems, and I have found very little water in the FCC when I check it.

My 1997 Ski Nautique has 2308.4 hours on it.

Over the past nearly 20 years of ethanol use in my toys, I have done it all ways.

Full, empty, stabil, no stabil...

I've never had any issues, but I prefer to empty the tank as much as possible, then add stabil, and fil it full of fresh gas in spring.

Before my last run I add the stabilizer and fill it up, then by running for a time I make sure the fuel throughout the system has stabilizer in it. This also leaves me at 3/4 of a tank.

The theory behind leaving the tank mostly full is the less air in the tank, the less water condenses out of the air as the temperature drops, but the gas tanks contract in the cold as well (they are plastic) so if you have a full tank you run the risk of having some fuel being ejected out of the overflow ports.
