    engine diagnostic tools

    so i have opted out of purchasing my own, but my mechanic said he'd probably do it if i could get a few more boats in there that need them. and i am pretty sure i can get my handful of friends to bring their boats in for service. my question is, what exactly do you have to buy? from what i understand they don't run on mac so i can't use one anyways. all i care about is my pcm excalibur 330. any info to give my tech would be a great help. i don't really understand what i've read online. he's coming over next friday to show me how to drain my block so i don't plan on discussing it until then. thanks again and stay warm.

    Why do you want to diagnose your Excaliber, is it having issues or are you just curious? No offense but if your mechanic is coming over to drain your block you should probably stay away from diagnostic tools for the time being but honestly don't waste your time if everything is running well.

    To answer you question though, I'm pretty sure the Excalibur runs a MEFI-4 ECM.

      You can pull the diagnostic codes with a trouble light, and a paper clip. I will have to look for the procedure in I have.

        You can pull codes using a test light. Put the test light between terminal E and F. Then use a jumper wire between A and B. Turn the key on and count the flashs. Code 11 is all good.

          i personally never wanted the diacom to use myself. just so if i had a fault i wouldn't have to drive 3 hours to plug it in. as for the block draining, im just much more self assured doing things after i've been shown how by someone else who knows what he/she is doing. and the fact that i have over a handful of friends who are in the same boat(no pun intended) when and if they ever get a fault code.
