2005 ex330 closed cooled. how many plugs/hoses are there and roughly where are they located? if you know what size tools to use that would be a great help also.

The 5.7L engine has a block drain on one side and on the other side is the knock sensor. There is a plug on each exhaust manifold and one plug on the large hose from the circulation pump to the thermostat housing. You should also remove the hose from the trans cooler.

I don't know the details on draining the closed cooling system but you don't drain the block or pull the knock sensor or you will loose your coolant. Look on PCM's website and they should have a manual that will clue you in.Current

After you drain that system you still need to remove two bolts from the pull end of the exhaust manifolds. You may or may not have them on the 5.7, again check your manual. Pull the impeller, replace with a new one, drain the water out and replace the old one, or store the old one in a plastic bag and reinstall it in the spring. Drain the water separator and replace it dry, don't lose the rubber washer. Drain the transmission fluid cooler, there is a nut you can remove to do this or you can just remove the hose. Check for low spots along the raw water line before and after the transmission cooler, lift them as you can to get the water out. Again, this is off the top of my head, the best, and as far as I am concerned only, real reference is the PCM manual which Jeff has made available on this site.

I use anti -seize (NAPA). Nasty silver paste that makes a huge mess if you get it on anything other than the intended bolt/threads.2018 200 Team H6

Gride,
I couldnt get a straight answer for the 2008 engine, but here is what I found out through trial and error
For the 2008 330EX
1) On either side of the block, there are knock sensors. When removed, coolant leaks out
2) Use a 1/2" extension on the V-drive plug
3) I used a cresent on the bottom driver side of the heat exchanger
4) The heater is also tied to the closed cooling (contains coolant)
This is about all I tried, but I work offshore and ran out of time and had to come to work.
Hopefully some we can get some answers for these engines, as the PCM manual is not clearGone - 2008 Air Nautique SV-211 Team Ed - Death by Fire
