Where are the aux batteries in your SAN?

Where do you have the extra/dual batteries in your Super Air Nautique?

I have a 2002 SAN--trying to figure out where the best location to put an auxiliary battery bank (2 group 27's) is. The starting battery is under the port side rear seat, recessed into the floor. So far, here are my options:

    1) Make a new space recessed in the floor under the starboard side rear seat like RainDog has done here:

    http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...-to-a-2002-SAN

Drawback: Time/Labor intensive, not very experienced with fiberglass layups

    2) Put the batteries under the passenger's seat

Drawback: Long runs of cable, concerned about weight distribution (seems like most of the weight is on the port side already and the wake tends to wash out)

    3) Put the batteries in the nose

Drawback: Even LONGER cable runs, loss of storage for anchor, concerned about water coming over the bow

Mine are on the shelf on each side of the v-drive drive compartments. Never in the way and never get wet.

Thanks Seth...I should have mentioned that I have fly-high 750's in each locker, so that's probably not gonna work for me.

I have a aux battery in the nose. It's storage space I wouldn't normally use anyway (I keep my anchor in the front port locker. The sante wakeboard wake likes weight in the nose and this helps. It does have long cables, but u never see them unless you are looking

          H20,

The 750's will still work with the batteries on the shelf. I dont have any pictures of my new boat, but my 01 has a dual 65 series (65's are bigger) system that I installed and I have plenty of room for them. I did the exact same system in my 98 and ran them too.

Interesting...do you have some sort of divider that keeps the battery separated from the main compartment? When I fill the 750, it takes up almost the entire space from the rear to the black rail/crossmember that the seat back attaches to. Do you have a pic that may explain it a little better? Sorry for being so dense...I appreciate the help!

Look at my ballast install #1 thread from years ago. It shows where my batteries are mounted. I've since changed bags, which is covered in ballast install #2 thread. There is one pic of my current bag sitting with the battery in the rear area in my photo album link.

Don't have any yet, but I'm thinking of running a couple flooded group 27's as one bank along with a single starting battery.
