    Ballast Tank Pump

I have an 08 SV211 TE with Jabsco ballast puppies. One is giving me some trouble (just doesn't sound right) so I want to take it off and look at it (could be plugged, maybe the impeller is bad, etc...) I tried to undo the nuts that secure the pump and the entire nut and bolt turns, therefore I can't undo the nut. I can't get at the other side of the bolt because its hidden inside the divider wall between the engine and storage locker. Funny thing is that on my other 2 pumps, the bolts turn as well so they all appear to be doing the same thing. Its almost like they are designed to do this. How do I remove these pumps when the bolt just keeps turning like it is stripped? Am I missing something?

    Thanks

you'll have to remove the walls to get access to the heads of the bolts... It is not difficult, but you will have to work with it to get the walls out. I did mine a month ago and was irritated that I had to remove the walls, but no way around it

Thanks Maxwell. While you had the wall apart, did you do anything to the bolts of all the pumps to prevent this from happening again?

          Mark,
No, I didnt do anything to them, so too easy to get to them and rare that I would need to again. But to expand on the wall removal, the First thing is to prop the engine cover open and disconnect the gas shock from the lower brace. That lower brace will need to be unbolted and lifted in order to allow the wall to come out. There are bolts on either side of the lower brace (forward and aft), remove them and lift the lower brace up.... You will see or feel the wall loosen, and remember the wall is in three sections. Use one hand (or a buddy) to lift the lower brace slightly and use the other hand to remove the sections of the wall. Once the wall is out, lower the brace back in place to work of the pumps.

I am overseas at the moment, but at home I have pictures. If you have anymore questions, drop me a line.

It is easy to get the sections of wall out, then to get to the heads of the bolts that hold the pumps on.

          Mike
