MerCruiser 25W-40 suitable for our PCM/Crusader engine?

Is MerCruiser 25W-40 suitable for our PCM/Crusader engine?

Im going to go to another place for service other than the local dealer appointed mechanic because that mechanic is useless and uses crappy engine oils. So with this new places they suggest to use MerCruiser 25W-40... what do you guys think?

That grade is not recommended by PCM, and will likely cause warranty claims to be denied if anything goes wrong that is related to the oil.

....and your oil pressure will be off the map high when the oil is cold.

The following chart shows the recommended oil viscosity
for various ambient temperature ranges:
Prevailing Ambient Recommended A.P.I.

Temperature Classification & Viscosity

Above 50°F SAE 15W-40 “GF-4/SM”
Below 50°F SAE 5W-30 “GF-4/SM”

This one is probably as close as you'll get.

The API rating is SL - which should be okay IMO. Others can elaborate.

Seems like the Shell Rimula is the Shell Rotella sold in the USA. Shell Rimula is sold in the Asia and Europe.
