pulling a tube from back lift hook?

I'm wanting to know if pulling a tube from the lift hook on a 2001 216 is a good idea or should I buy and install a tow hook to the back? I don't want to use the ski pylon because people can't sit in the back seat and if I use the tower it will interfere with wakeboarder. Thanks in advance!

It is not a tow hook. It is a lifting ring. It is designed to support a vertical load. The lifting ring is actually attached to a bolt, that does down to the hull of the boat, and is structurally attached to the bottom of the boat. The same with the lifting ring on the front of the boat.

If you are towing a tube, in a straight line, so someone can take pictures, or video of the wakeboarder, it will be OK.

Do not use the lifting ring for giving somebody an "exciting ride" on a tube, where you are doing lots of turns, trying to throw them off the tube. You can pretty easily put more stress on the towing attachment with a tube than you can put with most slalom skiers.

Depending on the orientation/location of the lift ring (no such thing as a 2001 216?), you can string the line through the lift ring to the pylon, that will keep the rope down the center and transfer most of the load to the pylon.

only from the rear. a pull to the side would not be affected by the support. On top of that, the rope probably has enough elasticity in it that you'd damage the boat before the rope went taut.

Correct Craft is the only Ski Boat that can support its weight from the lifting hooks you would be wasting money to buy anything to pull from as a former service Mgr and tech for 15 years with Nautiques I can give you a GREEN LIGHT on this!
