What is this piece for?

I bought a used boat cover from a 2001 or 2000 SAN and with the deal came this triangle piece of plastic covered in gray carpet. I think it came from the bow. Does anyone know where this piece goes. I would think a cushion would go on top of it. The old owner thought it was an accessory. Any thoughts, I know it does't fit on my 02 SAN.
