Depth Finder Thru Hull Installation Questions

    Hello,

I am considering installing a Norcoss Hawkeye D10DX.06T - With Thru-Hull Transduce into my 1993 Nautique closed bow.

I also wish to ensure that I leave room for a Perfect Pass paddle wheel.

Does anyone has advice and or pictures for installing a Thru-Hull transducer?
    Location of the transducer?

Has anyone installed both the paddle wheel and depth finder?

    Thank you,

    Brian

Couldn't you just do the standard depth sounder inside the hull and get the perfect pass system with the temp built into the paddle wheel?

I was always under the impression that the non-thru hull depth sounders were less accurate and required complicated mounting techniques involving sculptors' clay. Is the OEM depth sounder in Nautiques not a thru-hull style? I ask, because I believe the one on mine is thru-hull out the transom. It is a Hummingbird.

Also, consider the Stargazer system or less expensive alternative NL4-PP from Nautic Laugic for a GPS-based PP system (unless you ride on a river with more than a negligble current). No paddle wheel necessary then (although without one you would need an alternative for water temp... like the Norcross you mentioned). Personally, water temp is pretty irrelevant to me. I can tell if the water is cold, comfortable, or bath water just by jumping in.

puck style xducers are fine, as long as you don't use a quick dry epoxy. You can usually adjust them to read accurately through the fiberglass. I used a Gel repair kit, $5, and mounted the puck opposite the water intake. Worked just fine.
