sv 211 tranny fluid change, manual is confusing: help.

I have the PCM Excaliber 330 and V drive. The SV 211 manual says to change the "oil" with SAE 30, but everyone here (and the plate on the v drive) says use DExtron III.

can someone please tell me where exactly I drain the oil from, and what kind of fluid/how much should I add? lastly is there a filter that needs to be changed/cleaned?

oh yea, I am having trouble finding the engine oil quick drain line as well, can someone tell me where it is on the 211.

    thanks guys.

you will be more successful with a pump to change the trans fluid. there is a plug on the bottom but it is hard to get to. there is no filter. how much you extract will determine how much you put in. no more than a quart on that trans. use dexron III for the trans and SAE 30 in the vdrive

      Ski,

so there are tow separate places you change fluids on the drive?
where are they? can someone post a pic?

      thanks

to change the transmission fluid, you will want to get a pump and remove the fluid from the dipstick hole. To change the vdrive fluid, you have to have a pump and you remove it from the dipstick hole as well.

        Hope that helps?

Hsmunoz you have to drain the V-drive oil by pulling a square headed plug on the bottom of the vdrive toward the rear of the boat. The quick drain kit should be looped up under the red cover and hooked to a bracket with a clip near the throttle body on the engine.

so I am looking for two dip sticks. I know there is one under a small hatch, right over the bilge plug, but I now need to find the other one. hate sounding stupid, but which is which?

NMS1991, thanks for the tip on the oil drain line , I was having a heck of a time finding it , who would have thought they would stick it under the Flame arrester shroud.

              Hsmunoz,

There are 2 things between the engine and the shaft exiting the bottom of the boat. 1st thing after the engine is the transmission, then the v-drive. On direct drive boats there is only the transmission.
Dipstick on the transmission is on the starboard side accessed from the engine compartment. It's basically a rod with a 90' bend in it.
Dipstick on the v-drive is on the port side accessed from the "cooler" under the center cushion of the back seat.

Pull the oil out of the tranny from the dipstick hole, you'll need to get down to about a 1/4" tube in order to get down to the bottom of the tranny.
Tranny fluid Mecon III ONLY. DO NOT OVERFILL - you will have a bloody mess in your boat.

Pull the oil out of the v-drive is a little harder and messier. PCM certified mechanic friend said to leave it in there for a couple hundred because there isn't any real wear going on inside, unlike the tranny and engine. You will have to pull the connection off the lowest hose to the v-drive, through the dipstick hole doesn't get much. Drain into pan etc and/or pull top of same tube and put an extractor on it and pull out.
              SAE 30wt oil

              Chris
