    Annual service question

2005 Sante. What does an annual service entail, and how much would it run me?

Alternatively, how much of the service can be done at home, and what specific materials (oils/filters/impellers/whatever) and tools would I need to get the job done?

I'd change oil and filter, trans, and v drive yourself. Impeller is pretty easy too. Do a search on here for impeller change and copper tubing and it'll help. plugs and wires ,etc can be done if you have a few tools. I'd let shop check engine/shaft alignment.

Don't forget to clean your flame arrestor. Most, if not all of it can be done at home.

My understanding is that changing the impeller on a v-drive is not very easy, and if you do it, you should probably invest in an impeller puller (if you have the clearance).

The impeller on my 01 SAN GT40 takes me about 20min to change and is easy and I havent needed an impeller puller, but I havent done one on a Chevy motor.

I need to put this impeller biz on a stand alone thread and add that there is "TOP" cast into the pump cover. Please be sure to put it back properly. Not sure the triangle works in the other directions....but just in case.

Here is a tranny fluid thread. There are many. Note this thread is mainly for the inline 1:1.23 gearbox. The v-drive and combo v-drive/Tranny is different.

I changed my impeller in about 30 minutes. You need a 1/4 inch drive with a 6" extension to remove the bolts through the pulley. Make sure you note the direction the pulley turns to replace the impeller in the proper rotation (I didn't and had to back up and have a beer to contemplate which way to rotate it in.) BTW it is a chevy 330 hp. Other than standing on my head for 1/2 and hour, it was a piece of cake.

Funny...that reminds me of "it took one beer to take it apart and five to get it back together."

That's why I posted the pic of the belt routing and blue masking tape with the arrow. That way you can have the five before you start.

Also a general note. Pulleys with the belt grooves like the crank turn the same direction as the crank. Pulleys driven by the back of the belt turn the opposite direction. If anyone can sketch an exception, please post it.

another vote for approximately around 30 mins, standard tools and a couple of beers... just be sure to change the 3 small, and one large O-ring and lube with a silicone base
